9:15 a.m. Check-in opens | Coffee & refreshments Chewelah Center for the Arts 

10:00 a.m. Welcome to 2024 Creative District Convening 

10:30 a.m. Presentation by Chewelah Creative District 

11:00 – 12:00 p.m. Walking tour of Chewelah Creative District: Scavenger Hunt Adventure

12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Lunch and networking Radio Station 

1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Breakout Session 1 (choose 1 to attend) 

2:00 – 2:15 p.m. Break 

2:15 – 3:15 p.m. Creative Economy Strategic Plan Radio Station

  • Shannon Halberstadt from WA State Dept. of Commerce (presented by Annette Roth and Michael Wallenfels as Shannon was unable to come)

3:15 – 3:30 p.m. Break – walk to Chewelah Center for the Arts 

3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Connecting Creative Communities: Exploring the Northeast Washington Creative Economy Pilot Project 

 4:30 p.m. Day 1 ends 

5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Chewelah Art Walk 

7:00 – 10:00 p.m. Event in Chewelah city park with live music by Voodoo Church of Blues featuring Forest Govedare. Fired Up Pizza will be selling tacos and beer 

8:15 p.m. Govedare Stallion unveiling ceremony

Day 2 – June 7, 2024 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

9:15 a.m. Edmonds and Olympia: Five Years Retrospective 

10:15 a.m. Break – walk downtown 

10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Breakout Session 2 (choose 1 to attend) 

11:30 a.m. Break – Chewelah Farmers Market 

12:15 p.m. Lunch and networking Radio Station 

1:15 – 2:15 p.m. Breakout Session 3 (choose 1 to attend) 

2:15 p.m. Break – Walk back to Chewelah Center for the Arts

Billy Frank Jr. Statue Project

During the 2024 Creative District Convening, the maquette (half-size model) of the Billy Frank Jr. Statue Project will be on display at Trails End Gallery in Chewelah. Stop by during the Chewelah Art Walk or any time during the Convening to see the maquette and learn more.

On Thursday, June 6, at 3:30 p.m., tune in to KCHW 102.7 Northern Lights Public Radio to listen as Michael Wallenfels, ArtsWA Communications Manager, discusses the project with Chuck Ritchie (President of Chewelah Creative District) and Tim Nielsen (owner of Trails End Gallery). The interview will be live on the air as well as broadcast as a video on KCHW’s YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch.
