Applications for the 2019 Curator Roster are now closed. The next application cycle will occur in Fall 2021.
AIPP project managers and local art selection committees may decide to purchase existing artworks using our Curator Roster. This roster provides a pre-qualified list of people available to research and recommend artworks for purchase for the State Art Collection.
The curator helps ensure that the artwork is relevant to both the community context and the physical environment, and reflects Washington’s diverse population. The curator will:
- coordinate with AIPP staff
- meet with the local art selection committee
- consider suitable locations
- research artists and works of art
- provide an on-budget, cohesive recommendation
- present recommendation(s) to the committee
- communicate with AIPP staff to facilitate artwork purchase and installation
Typical compensation for a curator selected to recommend artworks is around 10% of the overall project budget. Budgets typically range between $15,000 and $50,000.
The 2019 Curator Roster will be active for a three-year period starting in November 2019.
