Randy Hayes
(American, born 1944)

Location: Airway Heights Correctional Center, Airway Heights

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artist Randy Hayes Tradition is comprised of two figurative paintings. Each panel features a figure leading a horse through a night landscape. The foreground of the paintings are colorful and bright, as if illuminated. The backgrounds are cast in shadow. While the relationship of the panels may suggest a story, Hayes purposefully left the symbolism open to our interpretation.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Corrections.
