ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artist Linda Okazaki uses expressive blue contour lines to convey strong tidal forces in her watercolor painting 'Currents.' The artist notes that the scene "is one most familiar to anyone returning to home port after a season fishing or traveling from a journey by boat."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Bremerton School District.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Port Townsend, Washington-based artist Linda Okazaki creates narrative, landscape, and still-life paintings.
Okazaki earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees from Washington State University in Pullman, Eastern Washington, in 1974. She was a member of Washington State University's Fine Arts Department for seven years. She currently teaches at the Port Townsend School of the Arts on the Olympic Peninsula in Northwestern Washington, where she also lives and paints.
