ABOUT THE ARTWORK

In Flicker's Song artist Judy McMillan shows the fallen autumn leaves of a black cottonwood tree, home to the flicker woodpecker and a complex ecosystem of other birds and insects. The artist describes this piece as "a moment in yellow and green. The yellows symbolize light and awareness, the greens a background of growth, life, and hope."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Kent School District.
