ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Horizon is part of artist Michael Brophy's body of paintings that explore man's relationship to nature. Featuring a figure sitting on a fallen log and looking at a plume of smoke on the horizon, this piece points to and critiques our impact on the environment. The artist notes, "Our collective connection and alienation to our environment has reached a critical point. How we perceive our surroundings, its uses and our place within is of particular interest to me."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Bethel School District.
