Location: Hedden Elementary, Edgewood

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Guardian is comprised of assembled and stitched silk fabrics, handmade paper and found objects. This piece is part of artist Marie Hassett's "Corvus" series focused on the depiction of the common crow. She notes that the crow in these works is "used as a creature of wisdom and strength often possessing magical powers. Animals are instrumental in the visual narratives I create in telling stories and the complexities of the human journey."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Fife School District.
