Olympia Creative District

Every Monday through Friday, the workday ends at 5pm with the sound of the steam whistle blowing at Fishtale Brewery. The sound is a reminder of downtown Olympia’s industrial roots.

Olympia’s Creative District will carry this past into the future. It will help evolve and expand the city’s creative economy. It will define Olympia as a regional hub for local arts, cultures and heritage.

About Olympia

Olympia is the capitol of Washington State. It is a historic port city. It is located 90 minutes south of Seattle at the head of Puget Sound. Olympia offers a high quality arts experiences without the hassle and expense of travel to Portland or Seattle.

What you will find

At the core of the district is downtown’s entertainment and theatre area and the city’s traditional industrial area. The district has a mix of businesses such as:

  • an organic wool bedding workshop
  • welding and fabrication shops
  • local brew pubs and coffee roasters
  • a theatrical costume shop, and more.

Many are housed in former warehouses and older industrial structures.

Anchor attractions include:

  • the nationally-acclaimed Hands on Children’s Museum
  • WET Science Center
  • Washington Center for the Performing Arts
  • Harlequin Productions
  • the Capitol Theater

At the edges of the district are the Olympia Farmers Market and Swantown Boatyard & Marina. They are linked by beautiful waterfront walkways and great views.
