ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Cow & Horse/Backyard is a photograph by artist Ann Hughes. The composition plays with perspective, scale, and depth of field. A toy cow and horse appear blurry in the foreground with a wooded backyard visible through a fogged window in the background.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Corrections and Battle Ground School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ann Hughes is an Oregon-based photographer and graphic designer. She was a founder of Blue Sky Gallery in Portland, and served as co-director from 1975 to 1979. She has served as a visiting instructor and guest lecturer at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. She received a Bachelor of Sciences degree in graphic design from Portland State University in 1971.
