ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Water #1 is a window installation created by artist Douglas Hansen for Steilacoom High School. He sectioned two glass windows into wave-like forms, in various shades of blue. This artwork is part of his series of abstract, fused glass artworks.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Steilacoom Historical School District.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Douglas Hansen is a Seattle-based glass artist. He creates site-specific installations, working closely with architects and designers. He was born in Christchurch, New Zealand. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1975. He studied at Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Northwestern Washington, with several master glass artists.
