ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Through Children's Eyes is a wall relief sculpture created by artist Ray Jensen for Hamilton Elementary School. Made of weathering steel, the sculpture rusts over time, adding a rich color and texture to the surface. Jensen based the images on drawings made by students at Hamilton.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Port Angeles School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ray Jensen (1930-2019) was a sculptor. Born in Seattle, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington in 1953. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York in 1956. He taught at Bellevue Community College from 1967 to 1994.
