ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Lighthouse Wall is a photograph taken by artist Michael Burns. The composition captures the play of light and shadow on a stucco wall at the Admiralty Head Lighthouse. This historic lighthouse is located in Fort Casey State Park on Whidbey Island, Washington. It was built in 1903 to guide navigation through Admiralty Inlet in northern Puget Sound.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Cape Flattery School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Michael Burns is a Seattle-based photographer. His artworks explore the interplay of color, light, and shadow in urban architecture and natural environments. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Washington in 1966. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1969.
