ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The pastel drawing Orchard in the Canyon was created by artist Linda Okazaki on site in near Cashmere, Washington. She notes: "The warm soft colors of the landscape invite the viewer into the field of shapes and open terrain."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Battle Ground School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Port Townsend, Washington-based artist Linda Okazaki creates narrative, landscape, and still-life paintings.
Okazaki earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts degrees from Washington State University in Pullman, Eastern Washington, in 1974. She was a member of Washington State University's Fine Arts Department for seven years. She currently teaches at the Port Townsend School of the Arts on the Olympic Peninsula in Northwestern Washington, where she also lives and paints.
