ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Archangel is a mixed-media wall sculpture by artist Katherine Holzknecht. This piece is part of a series of sculptures that feature a patina finish. It balances free-formed and precisely ordered elements. The artist notes, “When I look at Archangel , I get a joyous, uplifting feeling from it, and I hope that others who view it get the same type of feeling.”
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Mount Vernon School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Northwest artist Katherine Holzknecht creates artworks in cast cement, mixed material wall assemblage, watercolor paints, and stained glass.
Holzknecht earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Arts degree in Textile Design and Fiber Arts from the University of Washington in Seattle. She lives and works in Woodinville, Washington.
