La Vision Guiada, 2021

Don Rimx
(American, born 1941)

Location: Ridgeline High School, Liberty Lake

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

La Vision Guiada by Don Rimx represents the path we achieve by following our passions. It is about the daily effort we make that leads to our futures. It is meant to inspire a creative environment and also to connect with the students. The mural includes the following symbols: A young woman represents the students, and a falcon represents focus and leadership. A book symbolizes education. Plants, vines, and cantalope flowers symbolize growth, a connection with nature, and fruits that are harvested with time and effort. The woody vines also create a visual structure that ties the symbols together and creates movement. The title means "The Guided Vision" in Spanish, which is the artist's original language.

Rimx notes that "Art, like this mural, sensitizes us and stimulates conversations, learning, and reflection. Introspection will inspire students to reflect on their daily life, development, and discipline. This will help them enjoy the process of discovery, learning, and knowledge."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Central Valley School District.
