ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Quietude is a painted paper construction created by artist Carrie L. Larson. It was created during a winter artist residency at Holden Village near Lake Chelan, Central Washington. Larson notes, "Closely observing the deep, layered snowpack – with its subtle variations – was a revelation to someone who typically spends her days near the relatively temperate coast at the base of Washington's Olympic Peninsula."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with The Evergreen State College.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Artist Carrie L. Larson creates artist books, mixed media constructions, and sculptural installations made from paper and found objects. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Southeastern Washington. She lives and works in Hoquiam, Western Washington.
