ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artists Judith Caldwell and Daniel Caldwell created the wall mounted The Golden Apples sculpture. It references the history of apple growing in Selah, Central Washington, and is also inspired by folklore and mythology. In many classic stories, a golden apple often symbolizes knowledge and wisdom. Each apple in this sculpture bears an admirable quality, such as "compassionate", "kind", "creative", and "inclusive," reminding students to make their lives fulfilling.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Selah School District.
