ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The photograph October Colors was taken by late photographer Elwood Jones, capturing the vivid hues and beautiful structure of frost on fallen leaves. Jones dedicated his photography to presenting the "universal expression" of flowers and plant life as symbols of "peace, sorrow, love, and joy."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Bethel School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Seattle-based psychiatrist Dr. Elwood Jones (1925-2005) was an accomplished photographer, with works collected nationally. Best known for his intimate compositions of flowers, Jones sought to "preserve in imagery their ephemeral beauty."
