Location: Toppenish Middle School, Toppenish
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Basalt Ledges is part of artist Cynthia Krieble's body of impressionistic landscape paintings that explore the interplay of color, light, texture, and form present in the natural environment. The artist notes "landscape possesses an emotional significance for me. Also it becomes a vehicle for examining visual perception...at a distance my paintings read as sharply focused illusionistic images. Up close they become a flattened weave of abstract brush strokes."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Toppenish School District.
