Stretching Kestrel, 1993
Tony Angell
(American, born 1940)
Location: Marysville-Pilchuck High School, Marysville
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Stretching Kestrel is part of artist Tony Angell's body of bronze sculptures celebrating birds. He notes that this piece "is a study of one of the many graceful moments that these elegantly designed birds share with the patient observer. As a ballet dancer might stretch her leg with grace, so does the kestrel stretch the wing."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Marysville School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Tony Angell mainly creates sculptures that focus on birds. He is also a writer of books that investigate birds, the natural world, and environmental subjects.
