ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Stephanie Inman's Shovel Tree is a wall sculpture and visual reminder of the "all-in-it-together" local community in Royal City, Central Washington. The idea of three shovels joining and growing together, from handles to branches with fruit, stresses the strong, farming community that works together. It also references the many apple orchards in the area. The school gym is a community center and gathering spot, and seven flowing leaves lead visitors to its entrance.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Royal School District.
