ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Eclipse of the Moon, Eclipse of the Kestrel is part of artist Kim Hoffman's "Birdbox Series" of wood sculptures. He describes these sculptures as narratives about "my awareness of the non-human world, and my personal experiences in life with people." He encourages the viewer to look closely at the small environment composed within the box.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with South Kitsap School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Oregon-based artist Kim Hoffman creates sculptures in wood and metal. He is a professor of art at Western Oregon University in Monmouth.
Hoffman received a Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Washington in Seattle.
