Bouquet of Anthuriums, 1988

Sherrie Wolf
(American, born 1952)

Location: Sidney Glen Elementary, Port Orchard

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Bouquet of Anthuriums is part of artist Sherrie Wolf's body of floral still-life etchings. She created the piece using multiple etching techniques, including spitbite and aquatint. Each technique involves different ways of protecting and exposing a copper plate to strong acid. The acid "etches" the plate, which is then loaded with ink and transferred to paper. Different processes allows her to create various textures and values for the colored sections of her composition. Anthurium is a common houseplant, also known as "Flamingo Flower."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with South Kitsap School District.
