ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Maggie Smith created this ceramic tile mural for Dutch Hill Elementary School in Snohomish, Northwestern Washington. The mural represents the students' lives: everyday activities and games, subjects they learn at school, and the local wildlife and rivers.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Snohomish School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Maggie Smith is a ceramic artist based on Bainbridge Island, on Puget Sound, Western Washington. Smith was born in New Hampshire. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Delaware in 1972 and a Master of Fine Arts degree in ceramics from Indiana State University in 1977. She has served as an artist-in-residence for the Washington State Arts Commission and for Seattle Public Schools.
