ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This piece is part of artist David Haidle's 'Rose Matrix' series. Artworks in the series combine flower imagery with computer-generated grids and schematics. These works point to the complex structure and design in seemingly simple, natural forms.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Bellingham School District Collection.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
David Haidle is most known for his Rose Matrix series that combines computer graphics and traditional lithography printing.
A native of Spokane, Eastern Washington, Haidle studied graphic design at Spokane Valley Community College, and continued his studies in painting and printmaking at Portland State University and Pacific Northwest College of Art (both in Portland, Oregon). He served in the U.S. Armed Forces as an illustrator from 1966-69, in Vietnam and Europe. He currently lives and works in Portland, Oregon, where he co-owns the publishing company Seed Faith Books.
