Yancy Wright
(American, born 1975)

Location: Spokane Readiness Center, Spokane

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Each image in this series depicts by artist Yancy Wright the work of the National Guard at the Bremerton Readiness Center on the Kitsap Peninsula, in southern Puget Sound. Wright's photographs contrast nature with the equipment used in combat. Yancy's artworks are created by layering photographs and do not involve any digital manipulation. All of the original photographs were taken within the state of Washington. The layering of photography reflects the subtle layers of interpretation, perception, and bias that shape our world-views.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Military Department Spokane Readiness Center.
