ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Rock Wall is part of a series of photographs by late artist James Sahlstrand. The series captures the landscape surrounding the Central Washington town of Mattawa. Describing his compositions, Sahlstrand noted, "I did not concentrate so much on large panoramic views, but rather tried to concentrate a bit more on smaller aspects of the subject or scene in order to give a stronger feeling of the whole."

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Wahluke School District.
