ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Late artist David Gallagher was commissioned to create this sculpture the first years of Washington's Art in Public Places Program. Featuring a distinctive arched form, this piece presents a dynamic interaction between materials.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Tenino School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Olympia, Washington-based artist and professor David Gallagher (1937-1981) created abstract sculptures in wood. He taught at The Evergreen State College, in Olympia, Western Washington, from 1978 until his death in 1981. He previously also taught at the University of Denver in Colorado and at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Gallagher earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Washington University in Ellensburg and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Washington in Seattle.
