ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Quiver is a mixed-media wall sculpture by artist Katherine Holzknecht. This piece is part of a series of metal wall sculptures that feature a patina finish. The artist thought of the idea for the shape and composition of this piece while hiking at Crystal Lake near Mount Rainier. She notes, “It was a funny shape, sort of like a guitar or a jesters hat, and that is what I like about it. It reminds you of something, but nothing specific.” The title also contains multiple references and meanings. Quiver could mean a container for arrows, or the trembling feeling we get from excitement and emotion.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Tacoma School District.
