Winters' Bouquet, 1998
Katherine Holzknecht
(American, born 1954)
Location: Cedarhome Elementary, Stanwood
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Winters' Bouquet is inspired by the tradition of a late winter Potlatch, in which gifts were made during the dark winter months to be given to other tribes. Suffering from what she calls "winter blues," artist Katherine Holzknecht created this elaborate wall sculpture to remind herself of the spring flowers soon to bloom.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Stanwood School District.
