Robert Calvo
(American, born 1949, died 2015)

Location: Sherwood Forest Elementary, Federal Way

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Lessons is an installation of glass mosaic tiles. Artist Robert Calvo created the piece for Sherwood Forest Elementary, in Federal Way on Puget Sound. Thirteen mosaic sections feature symbols for common images and objects such as sun, house, book, umbrella, etc. His linear design, while often whimsical, also speaks to more universal concepts of diversity and acceptance. The mural spans the front and sides of the school's exterior.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Federal Way School District.
