ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Fingers in Smoke Series #5 is a mixed-media artwork by artist Gina Freuen. Ideas in her ceramic sculptures influence her works on paper. She makes them by layering and erasing multiple images. She notes that this technique is similar to her glazing process.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Fife School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ceramic and mixed media artist Gina Freuen incorporates multiple techniques into her intricate works of pottery. These techniques include hand building, wheel throwing, pressing, carving, and hand drawing.
Freuen lives and works in Spokane, Eastern Washington, where she teaches at Gonzaga University.
