Silver Fantasia Diptych, 1996
Neil McWee
(American, born 1957)
Location: McClure Elementary School, Yakima
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Silver Fantasia Diptych is a two-part photograph captured by artist Neil McWee in the Yakima River Valley in Washington. He took the images in winter, and are part of a larger body of work about deciduous forests. He notes, "The eastern part of Washington is often unappreciated for its scenic beauty and color. Its contrast with the western part of our state offers grand space and open feeling. A prehistoric lake created Eastern Washington. Its draining caused the Columbia River Gorge and the landscape of eastern Washington. The unique geology has created visual splendor unlike other places in the world."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Yakima School District.
