ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Piece Work is part of a series of sculptures by artist Kathy Gore-Fuss that combine human hands with objects and natural elements. Dried flower petals and relief prints made using antique lace and bird feathers embellish plaster forms. This piece uses Rose and Delphinium petals on the hands and bird. The bird’s wings are sculpted from wire and silk tissue. The artist notes, “The silk tissue prints have been cut and carefully stretched over the wire section and adhered with acrylic gel medium, which when dried gently with a blow dryer, shrinks the tissue slightly making it taut. The translucent quality of the silk tissue adds to the delicate feeling of the wings.”
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Pasco School District.
