Olympic Series #14: The Start, 1973

(American, born 1926, died 2013)
Location: Lakewood High School, Arlington
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Olympic Series #14: The Start is part of artist Robert Feasley's series of paintings of movement in different Track and Field events. The try-outs for the 1972 Olympic Games in Eugene, Oregon inspired this series. He noted, "In this particular painting I want to distill the sprinter exploding out of the blocks. The background was kept minimal so it functions as a color foil against which the action takes place."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Lakewood School District.
