ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Gordon Bryan created Fawcett School Animal Mural to spark imagination about animals and the natural world. He created this ceramic relief mural by first drawing the design on paper. He then traced the design onto big slabs of clay. He carved the images into the clay to create a sense of depth and dimension.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Tacoma School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Gordon Bryan is a California-based ceramic artist. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Sculpture from the University of California, Berkeley in 1983. He pursued post-graduate seminars in Ceramics at Skidmore College, New York State, and at Linfield College, Oregon. In 1982, he founded the ceramics studio Blue Slide Art Tile in in Point Reyes, California.
