Rio, 1979

Jacob Kohn
(American, born 1942)

Location: Green Hill School, Chehalis

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artist Jacob Kohn created Rio by layering a larger-than life image of a goldfish over a photorealistic image of Rio de Janeiro, a city in Brazil, South America. He created the sense of atmosphere and depth in the landscape by using lighter tones for the distant mountains, and deeper colors for the foreground. The title Rio translates to "river" in Portuguese and Spanish.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Department of Fisheries.
