ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Artist Brian Henderson created this steel sculptural relief to celebrate the academics and activities at Othello High School. The composition serves as inspiration for Othello's aspiring students. The silhouetted figures represent science, athletics, oration, music, and agriculture. The central figure is a graduate tossing their hat in the air.

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Othello School District.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Late artist Brian Henderson (1946-1995) was a Spokane-based sculptor. An avid runner, he designed the logo for the annual Lilac Bloomsday Run, held in Spokane on the first week of May since 1977.
Henderson graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle and received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Washington State University in Pullman, Eastern Washington.
