ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Hockinson School District selected local Hockinson wood carver Al Uskoski to create 'Mountain Scene.' Carved wood frames this landscape, which celebrates Washington's forests and mountains. The artist worked as a logger for many years before dedicating himself to woodcarving.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Hockinson School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Late artist Al Uskoski (1911-2011) created hand-carved sculptures from wood. Born in North Dakota, he moved with his family at age seven to Hockinson, Southwestern Washington where he lived for the rest of his life.
