ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Vigilant Lucille Keeps an Eye on Young Mose is an imaginative sculpture created by artist Shelley Moore. She constructed the form using foam, paper pulp and paint. Look closely and you will see two bears. The artist notes, "The piece shows a mother bear with her young cub… The two have been fishing and the mother is keeping close watch on her spirited young offspring."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with North Thurston Public Schools.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Northwest artist Shelley Moore creates painted sculptures and installations. Her works explore conceptual themes and stories. Born in Los Angeles, Moore earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Davis. She pursued graduate studies at the University of California, Davis, and the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
