ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Hearing the Language of the Birds is part of late artist Louise Williams' "Africa Series." This piece combines linocut printing with drawing and painted elements. Her themes and imagery celebrate compassion, creativity, and interconnectedness. She noted, "We can learn that all humans are connected and are part of nature." She continued that this piece "attempts to focus on the patterns of nature in which we take part."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Medical Lake School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Northwest artist Louise Williams (1947-2004) created artworks informed by everyday life, by travel, and by her experiences as a woman and mother.
Williams received a Bachelor of Arts from The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, and a Master of Fine Arts in drawing and painting from Central Washington University in Ellensburg.
