ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Randy Hayes based his painting Adrift on a photograph he took in Mombasa, Kenya, in Africa. He felt that the image of men adrift in a harbor "symbolized something more universal." The composition references the painting "The Raft of the Medusa" by French romantic artist Théodore Géricault.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Evergreen School District.
