ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Edwin Landis painted Pike Place Jazz in his Pioneer Square studio in Seattle. His subjects are talented street musicians who played regularly in the Pike Place Market. Landis had the practice of snapping a few photos when he was out on the street. These served as references for his paintings. He notes, “Even though all the pictures came out blurry, they were sufficient to use as references when I decided to paint a street scene in my studio.”
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with North Kitsap School District.
