ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Ed Musante created the mixed media painting Koi by adding to and sanding down layers of paint, dry media, and paper. This piece features rich detail and texture to create the reflective surface of water. It is part of the artist's body of paintings featuring a solitary animal figure.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Kent School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Artist Ed Musante creates figurative paintings. He is best known for his depictions of birds and animals, painted on vintage cigar boxes.
Musante studied art at the University of California, Berkeley, and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.
