(American, born 1956)

Location: Discovery Elementary, Sammamish

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

September Studio is part of a body of paintings by artist Alison Johnston inspired by her rural home on San Juan Island in Puget Sound. This piece depicts the artist’s studio on a warm September afternoon. The imagery references her love of gardening and the outdoors. She notes, “Of course it is too hot to be inside painting so the studio has an empty still feeling about it while the activity happens outside with the flower gatherer.”

This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Issaquah School District.
