ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Replicating student-drawn maps via machine stitching, Louise Kodis created twenty translucent and opaque textile banners that comprise 'A Flock, A Flutter, A Flight.' Kodis notes "the intention of this artwork is to activate the imagination, stimulate questions, let answers fly."
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Evergreen School District.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Spokane, Eastern Washington-based artist Louise Kodis creates wall hangings and installations made from colorful textiles.
Kodis studied at the San Francisco Art Institute in California. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington State University in Pullman, Eastern Washington, in 1964.
