ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Mt. Baker and MV Nisqually is part of artist Robert Demar's 'Nautical Highways' series of photographs. This series captures and studies the ferries that service the San Juan Islands. The artist and his wife, Robin Atkins, published ninety of the photographs as a book. He notes, "I've been taking photographs of ferry boats from the air, on board, from other boats, and from the land for over a decade – around 4,000 exposures to date. I have endeavored to capture the essence of the ferries as completely as possible…"
