ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Artist Mike DeVoe's Waughop Lake Meditation is installed in a building on the Pierce College campus in Steilacoom, not far from the small lake for which it is named. DeVoe has included many features from the lake within his painted wood sculpture, such as the water ripples, trout, algae blooms, birds, turtles, and more.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Pierce College.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mike Devoe creates figurative sculptures. He lives and works on Vashon Island in South Puget Sound, Western Washington. Devoe earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1973.
