ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Inspired by the Heritage High School mascot, the timber wolf (nicknamed "Terry"), artist Ken Spiering created The Ascendancy of the Wolf . The bronze sculpture presents Terry standing proud atop his rock in the school's lobby. Spiering also included elements depicting wolves on the school library's railings and bronze wolf head sculptures on the cafeteria walls.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Evergreen School District.

Eastern Washington-based artist Ken Spiering creates artworks in many different media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. Many of his works have been created for public spaces, with a focus on natural imagery rich with metaphor.
