ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Turtle is a concrete mosaic sculpture created by artist team Marvin Rosenberg and Lilli Ann Killen Rosenberg . Their love of nature and respect for turtles inspired this piece. They note that many world cultures view the turtle as a positive symbol. They state, "It has mystical meaning within which wisdom and gentleness are reflected." They created the mosaic using materials they gathered on their travels. These include shells, stones, and clay pieces from Mexico, India, Italy, Japan, and the United States.
This artwork was acquired for the State Art Collection in partnership with Spokane School District.
